Bournemouth Screen Academy

About Us

Bournemouth Screen Academy is a leading centre of film education, training and practice, comprising the Bournemouth Media School and the Arts Institute at Bournemouth. We are one of six centres that make up the Skillset Screen Academy Network, which is the UK’s film industry training structure and aims to broaden and make accessible the talent available to the British film industry.  A seventh is the Film Business Academy.

This new link between Bournemouth Media School and the Arts Institute at Bournemouth was created by funding from Skillset together with grants from South West Screen and our own investments.

BSA is committed to adding value to the learning experience of students on the five degree courses run at AIB and nine at BMS.  Four of these fourteen have additional Skillset Accreditation –. This is achieved through our core objectives and ongoing initiatives that you can read about on this website.

Over the first two years of the Academy we are spending £1million on film training initiatives including summer schools, mentoring schemes for students, graduates and staff, curriculum development, Practitioners in Residence, Excellence Fellowships, Academy Ambassadors, enhanced placements, new learning resources, new appointments and substantial bursaries to assist young people to enter our courses and produce top quality work when they are with us.
