Bournemouth Screen Academy

London Film School Masterclasses and Extension programme

London Film School Ext Prog

Call for Applicants - One-year Extension Programme

CINEMATOGRAPHY * EDITING* PRODUCTION DESIGN * SOUND

The LondonFilmSchool, a SkillsetScreenAcademy, has launched four brand new courses aimed at filmmakers who want to go deeper into a particular specialisation. Apply now for January entry.

Participants on this innovative new programme, made possible by Skillset funding, undertake a year of individually agreed practical learning, leading to greatly enhanced showreels and portfolios. It is aimed at people with a background in their subject area, or those looking to move from a related field, who would benefit from an intensive year of training to enable them to progress rapidly in their chosen craft. Participants will be based in central London, in our context of constant film making, minutes from the centre of the film industry.

Each participant will agree a programme of learning based on their needs, which we will monitor and develop. This will be based on:

  • Filmmaking experience on film and digital formats
  • A high level of individual tutoring and mentoring
  • Detailed professional criticism
  • Appropriate industry placements.

Participants will be active members of the LFS, attending classes and workshops and welcome to engage with film projects across all our courses.

The next entry date is January 2007 and as only 3 - 5 students will be enrolled in each of the craft areas, applicants are encouraged to apply early. The deadline is November 1st 2006.

We are also enrolling for

2 year MA Filmmaking – entry Jan, May, September.

1 year MA Screenwriting – entry Sep 2007

THE LONDONFILMSCHOOL

LFS has maintained an extraordinary international reputation by insisting on 35mm, on location shooting and built sets, and on down-to-earth, practical filmmaking

Mike Leigh LFS Chairman and alumnus

We have been one of the world's leading schools for fifty years and recently became a 'SkillsetScreenAcademy', marking us as a centre of training excellence. LFS graduates are established in film and television production in more than eighty countries and alumni include many great filmmakers and very successful technicians, covering all kinds of cinema – names like Michael Mann, Mike Leigh, Tak Fujimoto, Roger Pratt, Ueli Steiger, Luis Mandoki, Iain Smith, Bill Douglas, Franc Roddam and Alain Tanner.

LFS is an independent non-profit school run by passionate and experienced filmmakers -- 18 full-time faculty and a varied and hugely talented group of visiting lecturers, technicians and artists. We teach through filmmaking, on stages, and in workshops rather than in classrooms -- the building functions like a studio.

The school generates over 170 finished films a year, on film and digital.  Last year we sent to over 100 festivals and won numerous prizes, including a BAFTA nomination.
